State Board:
We asked the state earlier this summer to put forth names of interested gymnastics professionals. We have had a few people come forward to offer help with the Virginia State Men’s Gymnastics Board. Tim Kappel from Pure Gymnastics in Lynchburg and Viroel Popescu from Above the Bar in Richmond. We have two “At Large” positions. Also Kareem Phillips has stepped forward and said that he would be willing to fill the VP roll. We are providing the State the opportunity to vote for these individuals prior to our State Meeting so that they can begin serving in their roles. This will also allow the board to update the State Handbook for 2021-2022 with the changes that need to be made before the State Meeting.
The official ballot to confirm the At Large position and the Vice President position will be sent in a separate email.
State Meeting and Clinics:
We will be holding our State Meeting and State/Future Stars Clinic September 11-12, 2021. It is mandatory that each gym attend the meeting. There will be a zoom option available for the State Meeting portion of the weekend. We will hold a short state meeting to go over some business items. We are excited to have Kevin Preston presenting an overview of the new men’s junior program and the implications of the new rules in particular on the optional program. We will have a compulsory session to address the few changes in the compulsory program. We will also have a session for the Future Stars and Tech routine athletes who wish to have routine parts evaluated by a judge. Tim Michaels has agreed to help as a Clinician/ judge. Please mark your calendar and look for detailed information in the coming days.
Dates to Add to Calendar:
We have a formal bid for Level 4-10 and Platinum State Championships for the weekend of March 11-13, 2022 at Liberty University hosted by Pure Gymnastics. Aerial East will be hosting Level 3, Bronze, Silver and Gold State Championships in Mechanicsville and is tentatively scheduled for April 23-24, 2022.

May 11-14, 2022 – Junior Developmental National Championships, Lv10, Elite 8&9, Mesa, AZ
